Dr. Sean Alford

A. Sean Alford, Ph.D. officially assumed his role of Superintendent of the Aiken County Public School District on August 1, 2015. He comes to Aiken County with more than two decades of administrative experience, the majority of his career in educational leadership roles in South Carolina’s Public Schools.

Dr. Alford received his undergraduate degree in Education from The Citadel and is proud to have been recently inducted into the department’s Wall of Fame. He obtained his Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin, and both his Educational Specialist and Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Aiken County Public School District’s Chief Educational Leader began his career in education as a teacher of World and American History, Psychology and Modern Literature. Under his direction, districts throughout our state have seen double digit gains in graduation rates and improved Report Card Ratings. He served most recently as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Dorchester School District Two in Summerville, South Carolina.
