Just what is content literacy? How do teachers of math, science, and social studies effectively integrate reading and writing strategies into their instruction? How can content area teachers find time in their standards-driven classroom to incorporate literacy strategies that will improve student understanding of the content? This session will answer all these questions and more. If you’ve been wondering how to making reading and writing work in your content classroom, this session is for you. Learn how to integrate easy and effective strategies that won’t take time away from your content teaching. Instead, these strategies, such as quick writes, write around the text, HRQ, and hashtag summaries will serve as vehicles to improve student comprehension of standards, but also incorporate literacy strands as well.
