Early childhood teachers play a vital role in supporting young children's emergent literacy development. High quality early literacy experiences are critical to future school success, yet research suggests young children with disabilities sometimes have limited access to meaningful early literacy opportunities. This extends to mild and moderate students at the pre-secondary level in our middle schools. At the end of this session, participants will be able to access models, ideas, procedures, and devices that will assist in literacy. Teachers will feel confident using existing and requested technology to interface the emergent literacy learner. Connections will be noted and accessed between Special Education/Assistive Technology efforts with Elementary educational practices. General and Special Education practices can be mutual and will be showcased.
