This session is designed for all high school music course offerings including Music Appreciation, Choir, Strings, Guitar and Band. We will discuss and explore teaching methods to aid struggling readers in our classrooms while introducing remedial, intermediate and advanced strategies to meet the needs of these students. Activities will consist of sight-reading techniques, Kodaly Solfege, Music History and Music Terminology to facilitate improved reading literacy in our classrooms.

An opportunity will be provided for the group to break into subgroups to better plan and offer suggestions to take back to their classrooms.

Chuck is in his thirtieth year of teaching instrumental music During this time he has taught general music, elementary music, music appreciation, chorus, guitar and band.
