The participants will be presented with instruction on using data to drive instructional decisions for implementing Guided Reading in the classroom including: the set-up of Guided Reading, how it works in the classroom, components of the Guided Reading lesson (ACPS Literacy Model), examples of differentiated lessons for K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades. The participants will take away the structures of Guided Reading, how to plan Guided Reading groups and examples of plans to implement within their classroom. We will provide teachers with GRS (Guided Reading Structures) to reduce the barricades, traps or roadblocks teachers experience in the day-to-day routines in the classrooms. At the end of this session, participants will be able to effectively implement Guided Reading with fidelity, in their classroom. They will leave with tools to navigate the roadblocks of Guided Reading.
