Limited Capacity full

This session will describe a lesson used in the Math classroom to enhance student achievement in solving word problems. Participants will see how teachers used the book Math Curse as a guide to help students create their own word problem and also create a class book. Creating the word problem makes students think more critically and understand the topic. This session will also explain how integrating literacy, math, and visual arts helps students gain a better understanding of the topic and also leads to authentic learning. At the end of this session, participants will be able to integrate the use of literacy and the arts in the math classroom. They will also be able to collaborate with other participants on ideas to incorporate this into the classroom.
