This is an interactive session where participants will have the opportunity to explore, question and apply newly gained knowledge about improving the literacy of their English Language Learners. This knowledge will be used to meet the literacy and linguistic needs of English Language Learners in the following areas: A. Explicitly activating background knowledge B. Developing academic vocabulary C. Increasing reading comprehension D. Improving student writing At the end of this session, participants will be able to use research-based strategies and language development standards to enhance literacy instruction for English Language Learners.
