Dr. Elisabeth Blumer Hardy, an educator in the Aiken County Public School District and 2016 District Teacher of the Year, has 30 years of public-school teaching experience across all grades and is a 2017-2018 SC Honor Roll Teacher. Currently, she serves as the Title III / Multilingual Learner Program Coordinator for the Aiken County Public Schools District. Her classroom teaching experience includes middle and high school English and ESOL instruction. Elisabeth has been recognized for her impact on curriculum by having her lessons videoed and included in Carolyn Chapman’s Teacher’s Workshop instructional video for teacher training and working with Goldsmiths University in London to facilitate a cross-cultural methods exchange with teacher educators. Her work has also included pre-service teacher supervision and instruction, curriculum design and creating a culture of care in the classroom. She earned her Doctorate in Curriculum Studies with a focus on Cultural Studies from Georgia Southern in 2007 and has published a solo text, Beauty Pageants, Girlhood, and Power: Trailer Park Royalty, as well as with Dr. William Reynolds in A Southern Reader.
